in Nigeria: A case study of Oyo state

The objectives of the research were to determine
the problems of housing Nigeria Urban centres
having residential areas using Oyo State in
particular, assessing the problems, analyze the
possible consequences rising from these problems
and solutions to the problems. The
questionnaires administered and oral interview
were used to gather and analyze information
(data) received from the respondents. The
information (data) were collated, analyzed and
presented through the use of Statistical Package
for Social Science (SPSS). According to the
findings, which show the current trend of the
housing characteristics, indicated that there
was overcrowding of houses and over-utilization
of basic infrastructural facilities and
utilities provided in most houses. The demand
for houses are more than the houses available
and the housing conditions are getting worse and
worse every day as a result of increase in the
population of people living and working in Oyo
State.
